Paintings that are both true images and false idols.

Tethered to the traditions of the Northern Renaissance, where unbelievable realism was created in oil paint and used to bind the heavenly with the earthly in glorious high definition; my current paintings aim to create beguiling images of subtle detail that question our relationship with reality in the post internet age.

Edward Sutcliffe studied art with art history at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and took a post-graduate diploma at Central Saint Martins, London. Edward's work has been seen in group exhibitions in London, Dubai and Seoul and was selected for the BP Portrait Award annual exhibition on 8 occasions. His work is also in public and private collections around the world.
