Having just completed a three-week residency in Trélex alongside fellow artist Rebecca Molloy, Contemporary Collective’s Abigail Box reflects on her time there and how it has affected her work as an artist.

What if a modern-day explorer grew tired of the metropolis and sought out an area of wilderness in which to live? What if he built a cabin in a small patch of wasteland and lived there happily ever after...until one day when he mistakenly stepped onto a bus and was never seen again. What would be left of his existence?

A 6 week residency involving four artists; Mark Morgan Dunstan, Estella Castle, James Mansfield and Martha Beaumont.

Martha Beaumont is currently taking part in the artist residency program at DegreeArt’s gallery space alongside other City & Guilds alumni; Estella Castle, Mark Morgan Dunstan and James Mansfield. Ambitiously building a life size log cabin the space, Martha’s personal practice revolved around creating sets or ‘artificial worlds’ as she refers to them as.
